Our Commitment

Lake Wylie Living is committed to making its content usable by the widest possible audience, including people with disabilities. We work toward substantial conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, as an ongoing effort rather than a one-time certification.

Measures Taken

• Semantic HTML landmarks, a single main content region, and a skip-to-content link.
• Keyboard-operable navigation, accordions, and interactive controls with visible focus states.
• Descriptive alternative text on meaningful imagery and accessible names on icon-only controls.
• Color contrast targeted at WCAG AA ratios for body and interface text.
• Responsive, zoom-tolerant layouts that reflow without horizontal scrolling.
• Text-based content that works with screen readers and browser reading modes.

How to Navigate This Site

Every page begins with a skip link that jumps past the navigation to the main content. Headings follow a consistent outline — one page title, then section and sub-section headings — so screen-reader users can move through a guide by heading. The site search, the footer index and breadcrumbs on deeper pages provide three alternative ways to reach any guide without relying on menus or imagery.

• Use the browser's zoom (Ctrl or Cmd and +) up to 200%; layouts reflow to a single column.
• Reader modes in Safari, Chrome, Edge and Firefox present guides as plain text.
• Motion is limited to subtle fades and image scaling; operating-system reduced-motion settings are respected where supported.
• Links that open another website are identified in context and open in a new tab.

Assessment Approach

Templates are reviewed with automated checkers and manual keyboard testing when they are created or substantially changed. Because guides share a small number of page templates, fixes made to a template apply across every page that uses it. Images added to the site are given alternative text describing what they show; purely decorative imagery is marked so assistive technology can skip it.

Compatible Technologies

The site is built with standard HTML, CSS and JavaScript and is designed to work with current versions of major browsers — Chrome, Safari, Edge and Firefox — on desktop and mobile, together with common assistive technologies such as VoiceOver, NVDA, JAWS and TalkBack. Core reading content is delivered in the page itself rather than loaded afterward, so guides remain readable even when scripts are slow or blocked.

Known Limitations

Some third-party embeds, external links, decorative photography, and legacy content may not yet meet every success criterion. Content produced with automated tools is reviewed but may contain imperfections. We remediate issues as they are identified.
