A five-story restaurant in a converted historic pump house on the Catawba River in Rock Hill's Riverwalk, with a rooftop bar and a Southern-inspired chophouse menu.

The Pump House occupies a converted historic pump house rising five stories above the Catawba River in Rock Hill's Riverwalk development. It is a riverfront rather than lakefront room, but it is a natural special-occasion choice for Fort Mill, Tega Cay and Rock Hill residents.

The menu is Southern-inspired chophouse cooking — shrimp and grits is a signature — with a Wine Spectator award-winning wine list and a rooftop bar overlooking the river. It takes reservations, and the nearby Riverwalk trails make an easy walk before or after dinner.

Editor's Guidance

Eating on and near the water

Only a handful of Lake Wylie restaurants are truly on the water with slips for arriving boats. Weekend evenings in summer bring dock waits, and hours change seasonally — always check before planning a boat-in dinner.

Beyond the shoreline, Belmont's Main Street, Fort Mill, Tega Cay and Rock Hill's Riverwalk add a deeper bench of restaurants within a short drive of most lake neighborhoods.

Before you commit

  • ◆Check seasonal hours before a boat-in visit
  • ◆Arrive early on summer weekends for a dock slip
  • ◆Book ahead for special occasions and rooftop seating
  • ◆Plan a sober captain for the ride home
