The Calendar on Main Street
Belmont's events keep Main Street busy through the year. The free Garibaldi Festival fills Stowe Park in late April with artisans, a plein-air painting contest and live music. Friday Night Live closes Main Street on select Fridays from mid-May into early July, ending with Red, White & Belmont and fireworks. Catawba Riverkeeper's RiverFest takes over Loftin Park in May, and Daniel Stowe Conservancy's Holidays at the Garden lights up the winter.
A Hospital of Its Own
In January 2025, CaroMont Regional Medical Center – Belmont opened near I-85 Exit 27 beside Belmont Abbey College — the first hospital ever built in Belmont, with 54 beds, an emergency department, a maternity unit and surgical suites. For Belmont-side lake neighborhoods such as Reflection Pointe and McLean South Shore, it shortened the drive to an emergency room and added a practical reason to choose the North Carolina shore.
