Winter opens with the lake's best-loved traditions. Daniel Stowe Conservancy in Belmont lights its gardens with more than a million lights on select nights from late November through December. In mid-December, the Lake Wylie Chamber of Commerce's Lights on the Lake Holiday Boat Parade forms up at Papa Doc's Shore Club and runs around the Buster Boyd Bridge, and the Lake Wylie Christmas Parade and Tega Cay's tree lighting fill early December.
